Description:
This day-long course will introduce you to the fundamentals of tracking wildlife (and people) and is suitable for individuals over 16.
During the course you will be shown how to identify tracks and signs, trails and runs, feeding and other signs. You will also be shown field-craft techniques to enable you to get up close and personal with the woodland and forest inhabitants. The day includes:
Making the most of what we’ve got – Using our senses in the woods
Animal senses
History of tracking
Compression shapes
Feeding and other signs
Homes, trails and runs
Field-craft techniques
Introduction to the use of camera traps
Getting close to wildlife: Baits, calls, and attractants
Wildlife observation techniques – How to get close
Use of local woodland resources
Bird dynamics
Sketch mapping
Administration
The course will run on a Saturday from 10:00 to 16: 30.
We will break for lunch at Hatfield Forest cafe.
We will send you joining instructions including a map to the meeting point after you have paid the balance or paid in full.
You will be sent an an additional kit list and special instructions with your joining instructions.
